Private property implies the ability of the owner to use it as they see fit and when the area of property is huge, portions of land are inevitably forgotten about or used for questionable purposes.
I'm referring to the situation here where property is used as a dumping ground. While travelling along the entry road to the Lockerby mine, we noticed a small branch in the road with what looked like industrial equipment. It turned out to be a dumping ground containing a few wrecked cars, transport trailers, a small bus, tractor and this mini-van pictured above.
In an urban area, people tend to object to the neighbour who leaves their trash on the front lawn. When land is plentiful, this seems to be acceptable behaviour.
