6s | f3.5 | ISO 100 Ancient Artifact (Feb 19, 2006) ... or at least 100 years old. This is a detail from the control room of the hydro-electric generating station. And yes (before the obvious question arises), there's been a lot of post work done in Photoshop on this particular image. What can I say? I was bored and decided to play around a bit for a change...
![]() Hmm.. at that scale it's really hard to tell what was done. Effectively I was just trying to increase the contrast in the rust detail on the wheel portion of the device (through curves adjustments and selective posterization of the blue colour channel).

Exhibition: "In Transit" group show at the Toronto Free Gallery until the end of February.

That is one beautiful image... there's something "sacred" about it. Excellent composition and color saturation. The rust color really affirms its age.

I really like that photograph. It has a certain underlying elegance to it. Very bold.

Looks like an ancient, intricate keyhole, and I bet the key itself would be just as beautiful. I can almost hear the chunky clinks as the tumblers align...

This is wonderful. It is really like stumbling upon something with a lot of history tied to it. What ever processing you did was perfect, however I might have brought both sides in a bit, to crop out a sliver of each edge. This somehow reminds me of finding an old ship wreck, deep beneath the ocean... I love those documentaries.

Hi Kendall, another prime example of technology as an artform (we had this discussion before). It looks almost like an ancient medallion from a distance. Love the detail on the old wiring and knife switch in the upper left of the picture. The rusty bolts and contacts, the bluish green blotches on the front ring. All the details make for a really great image composition.

Strong composition, the post processing really adds to the photo. It would be nice to see a full scale image before the crop =)

Great shot (as were the last few), you really nailed the details at the plant. Did you blur the background at all? Other than that, it actually looks pretty similar to the (wider angle) shot I took on Provia, so it's not like you really changed the way it looks, just a touch more contrast. Great example of post-processing to make it look more or less how you saw it (taking into account that most important filter, the brain)

This is one incredible photo. I just love looking at it. It is so elegant and so beautiful. I noticed the numbers on the little knives sticking in, its so cool i can stare at it for hours.

nice! cool detail in the corrosion... it really stands out w/the contrast increased... i also like the peeling paint before it was cropped down, though. i'm gonna agree w/james-- quite elegant and decayed.
