Near Cherry Beach there are a number of old oil drums (I think that's what they are) which are abandoned. In a few of them, somebody has cut some holes in the side so you can see and walk inside. The drums are huge and have a 4-6 inch layer of water on the interior surface. The column in the centre of the drum is supporting the roof.

Unfortunately these seem to be a rather popular item, as we 'disturbed' an unsuspecting couple occupying one of the smaller drums while exploring around.

oil drum couple (May 29 2004, 2:49 pm)

When I was young, all I wanted was a little oil drum, perched by the shore of the sea- with...my...oil drum girl, oil drum girl, she wore her hair in-little curls. Late at night, at night when it's late, we'd yell 'till the walls re-verberate. By day in the shade, the shade from the light, we'd read by oil burning bright. But all things must end, the end must come, she's moved to the Bay's Atrium, and I-well, I wander, I walk to forget, and my little drum I-sublet Without my....oil drum girl. (meant to be sung)
