So let's start the tour a couple hundred feet up to convey the enormous scale of this place. Take a look at the stairs to understand just how huge this space actually is. At this end of the building, the floors had been removed all the way to the top which gave this great panorama opportunity. If you're afraid of heights, never visit this place.

Truly amazing shot. This is where a huge boiler .. was .. and has been cut out peice by piece. I am sure it was one of the 200mw ones (units 5-8) but I can't tell for sure which one. They were in quite good condition and had only operated for about 20 years (1962-83) about 1/2 of that burning natural gas. OPG is now operating some coal units considerably older than that. Sort of a waste. They could have rebuilt these with scrubbers and helped power Toronto for another 20-30 years.

Bill, your comments are incredibly illuminating, what a pleasure it is to hear from someone who actually worked in this place!
