Escalator Repair Feb 19, 2004

It seems that the escalators at the St. Clair subway station are under repair or out of service for 'regular maintenance' at least every 4 weeks. Do escalators really need *that* much care? I guess the upside is they can provide some interesting subject material when they're all torn apart.
